The experience of a lifetime!

Portraits of Hope: Faces of Refugee Resettlement in Central New York had a 6-month run from June-December 2016 at Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute in Utica, NY.

Special thanks to Kathryn Stam for asking me to take photos that fateful Saturday in September 2012. That first experience at the Music Festival on Varick Street led me to new events and opportunities to meet a lot of new people and make new friends from around the world. And a HUGE thank you to MWPAI President and CEO, Anna D’Ambrosio for choosing my work for this exhibit.

On November 18, 2016 Steve McCurry (right) came to the museum and spoke about his photos with his friend Dr. Anthony Bannon, former director of the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film in Rochester, NY.

Photo left: While there were many exciting things about being involved in such an awesome exhibit, I have to say one of my favorite moments was watching one of my favorite photographers (Steve McCurry) and one of my favorite people (Layla Ali) take a selfie together, duck-face and all.

Photo right: The last day of the exhibit. My photos on the wall in the background.
